Challenge:
The Hurst Conference Center in Hurst, TX, posed a unique challenge for Astro Sheet Metal because of the specific design requirements for the various metal elements. The plans specified that all architectural metals be finished in bone white, creating a cohesive and clean aesthetic for the building’s façade.
The glazing contractor supplied standard clear anodized extrusions for the large glass façade. At the same time, Astro was responsible for fabricating the custom bone white Kynar-painted aluminum cladding to conceal these extrusions. Furthermore, Astro was asked to create round column covers to cap the vertical brick columns in the interior of the façade and to fabricate spandrel panels to be installed above the building’s doors.
Astro needed to adhere to strict color specifications, guarantee a perfect fit, and uphold the high-quality standards for this significant community space.

Astro’s solution involved custom fabrication of essential architectural metals, including Kynar-painted aluminum cladding, round column covers, and spandrel panels. Our team collaborated closely with the glazing contractor to ensure the seamless integration of these elements into the conference center’s design, while maintaining precise color matching and a flawless finish.
Key elements of the project included:
- Bone White Kynar Painted Cladding: Astro fabricated custom bone white Kynar-painted aluminum cladding to cover the glazing contractor’s standard clear anodized extrusions on the large glass façade. The Kynar finish ensured durability and matched the project’s color scheme perfectly.
- Round Column Covers: Astro crafted round column covers to complement the vertical brick columns, tailored to fit seamlessly atop each column. These covers enhanced the building’s exterior with a sleek, polished finish.
- Spandrel Panels Above Doors: Astro also fabricated spandrel panels for installation above the doors of the conference center. These panels created a cohesive design that enhanced the building’s overall appearance.

- Design Collaboration & Color Matching:
Astro collaborated closely with the glazing contractor and architects to ensure the design specifications were met, particularly concerning the bone white color. We selected kynar paint with care to achieve the exact color match, ensuring the metal elements would blend seamlessly with the overall aesthetic of the building. - Fabrication of Cladding:
The Kynar-painted aluminum cladding was meticulously fabricated to match the standard clear anodized extrusions provided by the glazing contractor.
